Bestest Concert Ever 2011

Candy Band and other cool kindie artists team up Oct. 1, 2011 at the Royal Oak Farmers Market for a fun show the whole family will love!

Rock out to some serious family fun Oct. 1, 2011 – kindie-style! Four alt kid bands are set to shake-up the Royal Oak Farmers Market at the Bestest Concert Ever! with awesome kindie tunes (that's a mash-up of "kid" and "indie"). The craze pairs a grown-up sound with age-appropriate lyrics and topics.

This first-ever installment, which happens 5-8 p.m. and is brought to you in part by Metro Parent, lime-lights some cool groups, each with their own sound:

  • Candy Band, Detroit's original "mom rock" band featuring four Royal Oak gals who know how to kick out the jams loud and fast
  • Rhymezwell, A Boston-based hip-hop artist – and nursery school teacher – who uses rap to tell stories
  • The 3-D Invisibles, a crew that channels '60s pop, garage and surfer music
  • Birmingham-based Mr. Seley and the Troublemakers, who play crowd favorites "Cupcakeasaurus" and "Eat Your Books (And Read Your Vegetables)"

Admission is just $5, and some profits support the Boys & Girls Club of South Oakland County and Royal Oak Youth Assistance. Other sponsors include Hogger's BBQ, Sandwiches & More; McCourt's Music, Union AdWorks, MillKing it Productions, Lily's Seafood Grill & Brewery, Cup.Cake, Creative Confections and Miner's Den.

See the Metro Parent listing for the address and more information about the first-ever metro Detroit Bestest Concert Ever! for kids and families.
