Common Ground Art Fair in Birmingham

Bring your family to this annual street fair in Birmingham Sept. 22-23 and help out a major non-profit organization in Oakland County!

More than 160 artists will showcase their work at the 38th annual Common Ground Art Fair in Birmingham, Sept. 22-23, 2012. Families will have the opportunity to peruse the booths of handmade crafts. There will be a variety of mediums on display; admission is free, but you'll be able to view and purchase ceramic art, sculptures, paintings, jewelry, and more! The artist booths will be located on Old South Woodward south of Maple Road.

The Children's Activity Zone, sponsored by the DIA, will provide marionette activities for children of all ages. Learn about puppet history and create your very own butterfly marionette to take home with you! This is a great chance for your child to learn about puppets as an art form!

Once you've visited all the artist booths and the Children's Activity Zone, be sure to stop by the annual silent auction tent benefiting Common Ground.  Artists from the fair have donated some of their work to be auctioned off – and this is where the heart and soul of this art fair really is.

Proceeds will go to Common Ground, and help them continue providing great service and support for families, victims of crime, people with mental illnesses, and homeless children. This is a great event to bring the whole family to and to give back to the community.

Fair times are as follows:

  • Saturday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.
