Downtown Peach Festival in Downtown Romeo

Join in the fun with a Labor Day weekend celebration to end your kids' summer vacations on the right note. This event runs Aug. 29-Sept. 2, 2013.

When it comes to delicious food, flower-filled parades and kids' fun (a jam-packed-full day of it on Saturday, to be precise), this annual Macomb County tradition is simply, well, peachy!

For plenty of family fun, round up the ranks for the 2013 Michigan Peach Festival in downtown Romeo. This year's five-day affair spans Aug. 29-Sept. 2, 2013.

Things kick off on Thursday at 4 p.m., when the midway carnival gets in gear (hop on the rides all long-weekend long). Snag a slice of fresh peach pie – and shake it down at the 22nd annual 5K/10K fun run and 5K walk, which start around 6:45 p.m. If it's a parents' night out, swing by Beers around the World or the Lions' DJ/refreshment tent for $2 beer night.

On Friday, enjoy carnival rides with the family from 4 to 11 p.m. – wristbands run $20 for unlimited rides! Saturday and Sunday, experience live entertainment, Las Vegas gaming, a craft show, and carnival rides from noon to 11 p.m.

Some of the event highlights? Saturday is all about fun and entertainment for children at the Peach Festival KidFest, held at Romeo Village Park. Ages 14 and under are treated to a clown show and tons of contests and relays – plus games, a petting zoo, crafts, moonwalk and "Dan Dan the Choo-Choo Man" rides. Most of the fun is free! And Sunday is all about autos: The Festival of Cars Show is open to the public 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

On Labor Day Monday, you'll want to catch the beautiful annual floral parade at 1:30 p.m. It heads down Main Street to celebrate the holiday. Swing by ahead of time and enjoy the Children's Parade at 10 a.m. This year's theme: Super Heroes and Villains.

The festival is located at 32 Mile and Van Dyke (Main Street) roads in downtown Romeo. For additional quick-glance details, check out the Metro Parent listing for the 2013 Michigan Peach Festival in downtown Romeo.
