Meet Leah, Metro Parent September 2013 CoverKid – VIDEO

Can you say 'adorable'? Little 2-year-old Leah of Macomb Township visited Belle Isle in Detroit for our photo shoot, delivering lots of zen – and zip.

Feeling stressed? We think we've got the solution: toddler Leah, 2, of Macomb Township – the CoverKid for the September 2013 cover of Metro Parent magazine! In the golden sun of Belle Isle, his button-cute blonde perfectly channeled the "Sweet Serenity" of our featured story, all about helping kids decompress, relax and focus – "meditate," if you will – especially with the hectic new school year around the bend.

But, as you'll see in our video below, Leah is also a melt-your-heart little camera ham. We dare you not to grin as she does her impression of a doggy, dances around her wee patch of Detroit's famous water-surrounded park – and challenges our design staff to jump with her. See this animated little lady in action!

We also found out that Leah loves her dolly, Fresh Beat Band, the color pink and swimming. Chicken is her favorite food and she likes to make pancakes with her parents – and watch cartoons with dad and shop with mom. Her other favorites? Bella the dog, playing peek-a-boo and the swings at the park.

Wondering who our CoverKid winners are for 2013? You're right on time: The September issue also is when we announced all the lucky kids, including the readers and you can meet our Readers' Choice winner, too.

Interested in your kid being on the cover of Metro Parent magazine? Check out the Metro Parent CoverKids page. As information about our 2014 event emerges (for contenders for our 2014-15 covers), this is where you'll find it (give us a few months; it's in the works!). Natural self-confidence, poise and personality are what it takes – as you can see with Leah. We hope you'll get your kids involved with the next CoverKids. You never know: They might wind up in the spotlight, too.
