Geiger Ballet has been the premier Russian classical ballet training academy in the Metropolitan Detroit area for 30 years … dedicated to the serious study of the art, and appreciation of, classical Ballet and quality Contemporary study. The focus is on quality of training, over quantity of students can be noticed immediately, as demonstrated by the class size, level of personalized attention each student receives, and most importantly, the number of classes taught personally by Mary Geiger. Whether your personal goal is the discovery of an uncommon talent, or a rewarding professional career, it all leads to success in dance and beyond!

Early Childhood Program for ages 4 to 7

Our Early Childhood Program (ECP) is designed to provide children between four and seven years of age with a strong foundation in dance and movement, accompanied by a nurturing and positive learning environment that will help establish the knowledge, understanding and love of dance.

Professional Track for ages 8 to 18: Beginning Ballet – Advanced Ballet

GB introduces students to ballet’s gift of poise, grace and self discipline. The academy’s curriculum is based on classic traditional European schools such as the Stuttgart, Kirov and Paris Opera Ballet. This education has complementary classes in contemporary, choreography and repertory classes. This program is designed so that students advance through the various levels on a progressive scale.

Geiger Contemporary Repertoire (GCR)

Learning choreography and performing is an integral part of the training process of a dancer. GCR will provide students with the opportunity to learn original contemporary choreography that will culminate in a Spring Dance Showcase. Rehearsals will be partnered with Contemporary classes taught by Assistant Director, Renee Mueller. There are no auditions for GCR, interested students will pay an annual $100 Membership Fee and are required to regularly attend specific classes.

The Young Choreographers Project (YCP)

The goal is to examine the process of creation through the art of choreography. Dancers are provided with concrete tools to explore and cultivate their own artistic process, in addition to paying respect to the occurrence of a flash of inspiration! The budding choreographer will learn how to build the basic techniques of the craft and develop a better understanding of the inspired concepts fundamental to professional choreography.

Summer Ballet

Six-week summer session with Intensive Camps and Princess Camps.

Adult Open Level Classes

School Director Mary Geiger is teaching the Saturday adult intermediate class. This is the perfect class for those who are more experienced who want to learn great ballet technique from a great teacher. And a true beginning ballet class, taught by licensed physical therapist Melissa Scheck with care given for joints and back, you will be taught how to modify and accommodate your body’s own needs.
