Art, music and (of course) apples converge once again for Rochester’s 50th annual Art and Apples Festival, Sept. 11-13, 2015. National and local artists, performers, foodies and families meet in Rochester Municipal Park for one last summer hurrah before the leaves turn the shades of ripe apples.
First, pick up a brochure. The guide breaks down the art into specific categories and provides all the food vendors’ locations.
Thirty acres accommodate more than 200 artists who travel cross-country to exhibit their work in one of many categories – including 3D mixed media, digital art, drawing, wearable and non-wearable fibers, glass, metalsmithing, printmaking, sculpture, wood and much more.
Kids can get creative in their own kiddie-catered art zone. The little ones are especially sure to enjoy the climbable inflatables and rock wall, the live demos and performances. Don’t forget to visit us at the Metro Parent booth where we’ll dole out crafts and activities of our own!
Back by popular demand: South Street Skateboard graphic designers help kids bling their boards and create their own skateboard deck. New this year is the High School Sidewalk Chalk Art Competition. Watch students transform the park’s walkways into an artful canvas.
Nab apples to make your own homemade pies, or grab premade apple treats served onsite. Paint Creek Cider Mill’s on the grounds to provide cider and donuts to get families psyched for fall. Those with full tummies can lounge and listen to the tunes and watch live entertainment on center stage. Performances include an orchestra, dancers, a kid-run rock band, high school bands and more.
Be one of predicted 200,000 festivalgoers, and come with an inquisitive mind and an empty stomach to this year’s Art and Apples Festival, Sept. 11-13.
There’s a $5 suggested donation.
