Worldwide there have been over one billion acts of green, according to Earth Day Network. Impressive right? Well, let your kids join this international movement to protect the planet they live in and kindle their earth appreciation at GreenFest on April 18-19, 2015 at the Detroit Zoo in Royal Oak, one of the great metro Detroit events for families this weekend.
At this event, open to all ages, kids can learn while they play. Stop by for earth-friendly crafts and get hands-on with eco-materials. Then, learn about endangered species in a scavenger hunt. Kids can sit and enjoy some storytelling or benefit from the educational displays.
After, see how recycling can be fun by using recycled materials to play games! Families can learn from zookeepers and see cool exhibits by local conservation groups.
The celebration runs 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and is free with general admission. Get a reduced admission price of $8 by bringing in a cellphone to recycle – or take it to any local MetroPCS store and get a voucher for discounted admission.
