Downtown Ferndale transforms into a winter wonderland during the Holiday Ice Festival on Dec. 12, 2015. More than 50 ice creations line the street Saturday at this event running 10 a.m.-6 p.m. – plus you’ll find so much more!
Ice carvers, including world champion Tajana Raukar, turn blocks of ice into characters and cartoons. Look out for Ferndale Fire Department’s Engine No. 1. You might see Santa on it as he’s heading to the “North Pole” in Schiffer Park at 10 a.m., where you can meet him and his live reindeer team (they’ll be visiting from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.).
Take free photos with Santa, provided by Digital Lane Photography, until noon, and grab a lunch with him at Rosie O’Grady’s from noon till 1:30 p.m. Did you miss your opportunity get a picture with Santa or want another one? Not a problem. You can get one with him again from 2-5 p.m. at the North Pole, this time with photography by Larry Mills.
Take an urban hayride around town, which also takes off at Schiffer Park. Get into the Christmas spirit with caroling by the Ferndale Middle School Choir and enjoy sweet treats in the warming tent run by the Ferndale High School Fine Arts Boosters. While you are in the tent, send a card to a solider!
