Festival visitors enjoy a 17-acre village full of Renaissance-era shops, taverns and village people. Live entertainment happens around every corner on the streets of the festival, with theater, comedy shows and music on 17 stages. Plus, find games and people-powered rides, a castle, full-armored, full-contact jousting competition, live mermaid show, human combat chess match, Children’s Realm and much more.
The festival’s marketplace features an array of food including turkey legs, fresh-baked bread, soup, Scotch eggs, apple dumplings and more. Craftsman share their skills in glassware, leatherwork, jewelry and clothing throughout the festival and the work of more than 300 artisans are on display. Test out your talents this year at the first nautical mural competition or the returning fairy house competition.
Each weekend is themed, and festivalgoers are encouraged to dress up for the event. Tickets are $21.95 for adults and $12.95 for kids ages 5-12.
The 2014 Renaissance Festival happens on the Hollygrove Grounds 10 a.m-7 p.m. weekends Aug. 16-Sept. 28 – plus one Monday and Friday. Themes for this year are as follows:

- Aug. 23-24: Highland Fling
- Aug. 30-Sept. 1: High Seas Adventure (note: also Labor Day Monday)
- Sept. 6-7: Wonders of the World
- Sept. 13-14: Shamrocks & Shenanigans
- Sept. 20-21: Harvest Huzzah
- Sept. 26-28: Sweet Endings (note: also Friday)
