If your family is still stuck in their winter hibernation, wake them up with some games, activities and tons of springtime animal-themed fun at Kensington Metropark’s Spring Festival, April 25-26, 2015.

This annual shindig kicks off at 11 a.m. with a draft horse harnessing demonstration at the main horse barn, a living history village packed with blacksmithing, woodworking and campfire cooking demonstrations and, of course, the annual sheep shearing demonstration where animal lovers will get to see the park’s flock of sheep get their annual haircuts.

At noon, families can learn “All about Bees” with John Beemer, enjoy a horse drawn hayride or check out some woolspinning demonstrations. After, there’s pony rides and 4-H presentations, a Border Collie sheep herding demonstrations, and magic shows with Rosco the Clown. Plus, there are games, farm tours and more.

The farm’s baby animals will even be out and about for this party.

Most of the activities are free with a park pass, but fees will apply for some activities, including hayrides. A Metropark parking permit is required to enter, and prices are as follows: $30/standard annual admission, $20/senior annual admission, and $7/daily admission.
