Welcome spring back into season with tons of family fun in Michigan at Kensington Metropark's annual Spring Festival, April 23-24, 2016.

Outdoor Michigan festivals and events are popping up across southeast Michigan, the flowers are abloom and the bees are buzzing. That means it’s time to ring in spring! If your family is still stuck in their winter hibernation, wake them up with some games, activities and tons of springtime animal-themed fun at Kensington Metropark’s Spring Festival, April 23-24, 2016.

This annual shindig kicks off at 11 a.m. with a draft horse harnessing demonstration. Families can even visit the Kensington living history village featuring blacksmithing, and woodworking and campfire cooking demonstrations. Plus, catch the annual sheep shearing demonstration where animal lovers will get to see the park’s flock of sheep get their annual haircuts.

Families can learn about honeybees and how to extract the honey they make with John Beemer, enjoy a horse drawn hayride or check out some wool-spinning demonstrations. After, there’s Border Collie sheep herding demonstrations, shows with Rosco the Clown and more.

The farm’s baby animals will even be out and about for this party! They’re a must-see for kids.

The full event runs noon-4 p.m. both days, with the draft horse harnessing before at 11 a.m. Most of the activities are free with a park pass, but fees will apply for some activities, including hayrides. A Metropark parking permit is required to enter, and prices are as follows: $35/standard annual admission and $10/daily admission.
