Sure, spending time at your grandparents’ house for Easter – dining on all your favorite holiday meals and hanging out with the family – is nice, but why not step it up a notch this year? Hop into spring with some awesome activities by taking the youngsters to Bunnyville at the Detroit Zoo either April 3 or 4, 2015.
The beloved Royal Oak zoo is the perfect place for you and your family to create memories and even create a new Eater weekend tradition.
Now in its 24th year, this event – which is presented by Meijer – offers a golden egg hunt, where your little ones can win some really neat prizes. Just keep an eye out for those shiny eggs; there are 100 total hidden throughout the zoo on each day.
But there’s so much more in store, too! Throughout Friday and Saturday, enjoy a Jelly Bean Jamboree and Funny Bunny Games. If that’s not enough to keep your little hoppers fully occupied, take them to see the Off Broadway Productions’ performances of the fun musical The Bunny Follies, which will take place at the Events Pavilion at noon and 1, 2 and 3 p.m.
While at this eggstravaganza, make sure your tots get their official Bunnyville face paint over at the whisker-painting station. And don’t forget to take kids for a photo with the Easter Bunny – you can purchase the photos as a keepsake from your trip to one of the coolest zoos in Michigan.
Throughout the event, also keep an eye out for treats, games, crafts, live entertainment, zookeeper talks and more fun for the entire family.
The festive fun runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on both Friday April 3 and Saturday April 5 (Easter falls on Sunday April 5).
And it’s all free with your general admission to this Royal Oak zoo! The entry fee is $14 for ages 15-61, $9 for ages 2-14 and free for kids under 2 (along with Detroit Zoological Society Members). If you bring a canned or non-perishable food item, you will receive a reduced admission price of $8. Either way, parking is $6 per vehicle.
