Looking for things to do with kids in Detroit this weekend? Do your kids love car racing and sports? How about live entertainment? If you answered “yes” to these questions, then you’ve got to make it to the Chevrolet Belle Isle Grand Prix 2016, running June 3-5, 2016.
Metro Detroiters of all ages can head out to Belle Isle to experience the races for themselves, as well as many more fun events on the Isle.
The gates open at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, so pack up the family and bring them to experience the fun. Races include the Verizon IndyCar Series, IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, The Trans Am Series and the SPEED Energy Stadium Super Trucks Presented by TRAXXAS.
The races are just a piece of the fun. Attendees can also check out the Taste of Detroit featuring over a dozen different metro Detroit restaurants, plus some great BBQ.
You and the kids can also play games in the Meijer Fan Zone’s sports district. Performances by the Monster Energy Drink BMX team will take place each day in the Meijer Fan Zone as well, fun for kids and adults alike.
New this year a craft show featuring up to 30 of Michigan’s artists, creating metal jewelry, paintings, sculptures and much more.
Another addition to the lineup this year: The Coors Light Lounge located east of MotorCity Casino Hotel Entertainment Stage. Enjoy the races on television while playing Giant Jenga or Cornhole.
Saturday night at the MotorCity Casino Hotel Entertainment Stage fans can see the Romantics perform some of their greatest hits, and on Sunday afternoon, Morris Day and The Time will perform.
Tickets start at just $40 for adults and children 12 and under get in free with a ticket-holding adult’s general admission. Reserved seating is available.
And Friday, thanks to Comerica Bank, it’s Free Prix day. Gates are open and free to all, making it easier than ever to attend this event.
