Open your eyes to creativity and surround yourself with original pieces of art at the Ferndale DIY Street Fair, Sept. 25-27, 2015. The fair returns for the eighth time, aiming to please all ages with food, music and family activities. More than 100 artists and vendors with nearly 65 regional bands on two stages bring the fair to action.
Sponsored by Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers, the DIY Street Fair sits on the east side of Woodward Avenue between East Nine Mile Road and East Troy Street. Local artists, crafters and makers put together their best work, selling them at various venues.
Children enjoy the pleasure of face painting, a Ferris wheel and rock climbing. Adults needing a cool drink, grab a craft beer to go with the tasty food.
Speaking of food, known as “Food Truck Heaven,” Mac Shack, Delectabowl, Detroit BBQ Company and more provide great food to accompany a great street fair.
During the fair, stop and check out the latest vehicles from Chevy on Nine Mile Road and Woodward Avenue. Coming back for another year, Chevy presents its own cornhole boards and opportunity to win prizes. Feel free to bring your skills and participate in the two 32-team tournaments on Saturday (keep an eye out for registration info).
Come out and support local artists. DIY is another way of expressing yourself. Admission to the event is free. The times are as follows:
- Friday: 6 p.m.-midnight
- Saturday: 11 a.m.-midnight
- Sunday: 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
