With such a harsh, yet beautiful, white Michigan winter thus far, what’s better than getting cozy in front of an open fire in your rustic-inspired cottage up north sitting just off the scenic lakefront?
Well, if you’re looking for some ideas for your cottage – or want to get some information hiking, canoeing and more, check out two events in southeast Michigan this weekend. Outdoorama and the Cottage & Lakefront Living Show are coming back to the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi to help plan the Michigan fun for your family, starting Thursday, Feb. 26 and running through Sunday, March 1, 2015.
Explore custom-built log or driftwood furniture to fill up your cottage living area at the Cottage Fine Art Show and Lakefront Marketplace. Featuring mantels, coffee tables, bars and more, local vendors are sure to help you achieve the serene look you want. Don’t forget to cover the walls with art glass, carved fish, nature and wildlife images or oil paintings and purchase lake gear for the entire family.
Then let the kids join in the fun and play in the giant sandbox at “The Beach!” They can also watch returning sand pirates Janet and Kirk Schrader build tall sculptures, structures and characters. Once they’re done, they can hop into a huge 8-foot Zorb Ball and run around the Zorb Pool. This is open to all ages, so yes parents, you can hop in one too!
At Outdoorama, lovers of the great outdoors can Big Buck Night, dog acts, a trout pond and more. Plus, check out lots of hunting, fishing, boating, hiking and camping stuff. This is a great place to shop for new boating accessories, too.
Both shows run at the following times:
- Thursday: 3-9:30 p.m.
- Friday: Noon-9:30 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
- Sunday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
This is a BOGO – that’s “Buy One, Get One” (free) event, so you’ll pay for admission to one and get in for free to the other. Tickets are $10/adult, $4/ages 6-14 and free for children 5 and.
