Love crafty characters with a few tricks up their sleeves? That's just what you'll find as a trio of fairytales springs to the stage in Washtenaw County.
Wild Swan Theater presents its kids show Once Upon a Time, returning to the Towsley Auditorium at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor March 27-29, 2014 (a Thursday, Friday and Saturday).
Geared towards children ages 3-9, this performance features three familiar tales – all given fresh life by three talented actors. In the first, a "sweet and funny" spin on the story The Three Billy Goats Gruff, a trio of savvy mountain goats manage to outwit a "silly but very hungry" troll. In the second, Reynard the Fox, kids in the audience "help" the sneaky lead character trick his animal pals – and, ultimately, turn the tables on that up-to-no-good fox! And, finally, what kid doesn't enjoy huffing and puffing along with the wily wolf in The Three Little Pigs?
Promising a lively and quick-paced experience for little ones, Once Upon a Time also features a musician and WST's American Sign Language performer, making the show accessible to kids with hearing challenges. (Check ahead to discover backstage "touch tours" and audio description for blind theatergoers, too.)
Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for kids and seniors, plus $3 lap passes are available for patrons under age 2. Show times are as follows:
- Thursday-Friday: 1 p.m.
- Saturday: 11 a.m.
For an engaging, creatively staged treat filled with magic and a dash of suspense, try this show as a great first stage experience for young kids.
