Ann Arbor Art Fairs in Downtown Ann Arbor

The Ann Arbor Art Fairs return July 15-18, 2015. This collective of four award-winning art fairs attracts over 500,000 annual fairgoers who come far and wide to peruse exhibits, watch musical performances and partake in Art Activity Zones.

Watch and learn techniques of artists in the Art Demo Zone, located under the big maples on North University. Demonstrations include techniques for throwing clay, digital painting on an iPad, creating kinetic jewelry, metal sculptures, felt, 3-dimensional book collages, mixed media using driftwood and more.

Stop by the Art Activity Zone, located on the University of Michigan Diag, off North University Avenue, to immerse in kid-friendly art. Get your hands dirty and create your own clay fish, monogrammed tiles, beeswax candles, wire bubble wands and more. There’s an extra educational component at each site, and you can take your designs home!

Keep an eye out for musician Bob Culbertson and his Stick – a twelve-string instrument with guitar and bass elements – filling the streets with folky blues and classical Spanish. Observe while magician George Tait, the living statue, reads audience members’ minds. And watch Tess Tobolic’s chalk recreation of Jacques-Louis David’s Napoleon Crossing the Alps come to life.

Come on out to indulge in the creative arts amidst grandiose architecture and elegantly landscaped pedestrian walkways, perfect for outdoor dining.

The Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, The Original is held around the Burton Carillon Clock Tower on the central campus of the University of Michigan. The Summer and the State Street art fairs serve as the heart of the festivities down Ann Arbor’s Main and State streets. Lastly, the South University Art Fair takes place between ethnic restaurants and quirky stores and offers plenty of easy access parking at the Forest Parking Deck.

Prepare to have your senses stimulated! And find out why after 50 years this art extravaganza continues to grow. Hours of operation are as follows:

  • Wednesday-Friday: 10 a.m.-9 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Admission is free and open to the public.
