Wondering what to get dad this Father's Day weekend? Why not gift him some of your time this Father's Day at the Belleville National Strawberry Festival June 13-15, 2014!
A local farmer started the festival in 1976 in order to promote strawberry crops, and so – with the help of the chamber of commerce, local strawberry growers and Saint Anthony's Church – the festival was born. Since then, the festival occurs for three days each year and serves as a fundraising opportunity for community service groups.
A parade kicks off the fun at 11 a.m. on Saturday, and will feature more than 150 floats, musical entertainment, motorcades, marching bands, clowns and acrobats. Get there early, because this two-hour event alone draws in around 30,000 people.
Two midways feature rides and games for all ages, and the 12th annual Cinnamon's Fathers Day Car Show on Sunday will keep dad entertained.
And don't forget to grab a sweet strawberry treat in one of the booths around the festival!
Admission to the Belleville National Strawberry Festival is free. Hours are as follows:
- Friday: noon-10 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
- Sunday: noon-7 p.m.
