How about a festival that dips into Monday and Tuesday territory? Welcome to the Farmington Hills Family Funfest! This four-day affair, which starts on a Saturday, runs Aug. 2-5, 2012. Kick off the kids' last month of summer vacation with a carnival the whole family is sure to enjoy.
For seven years now, this Oakland County blowout has delivered great food and rides to folks all over the Farmington Hills area. With more than 20,000 expected to attend this year, your kids are likely to meet some new and old friends. Why not make the trip to Founders Sports Park and have a ball?
Admission and parking are free.
Hours for this year's funfest are as follows:
- Thursday and Friday: 5-11 p.m.
- Saturday: noon-11 p.m.
- Sunday: noon-9 p.m.
Naturally, rides are a must here. With Wade Shows putting on this event, it's going to be a blast, featuring around 25 rides. And, at $1 a pop, parents don't have to break the bank to see children smile. All-day wristbands are $18 for thrill-seekers with plans to ride from opening until closing. To stretch your dollar further, coupons for wristbands are available online and at local retailers. On Thursday and Friday, with the coupon, you save $4 – and on Saturday and Sunday, you save $2.
Rides not quite your thing? Never fear: There are plenty of games, too. Introduce children to some new animals at the petting zoo and even go for a ride on a pony.
Don't leave without getting the very popular carnival foods that are only available this time of year.
Proceeds will fund children's programs in Farmington and Farmington Hills.
