What’s red, white, blue and fun all over? The Uncle Sam Jam Festival, of course! And you can be there celebrating America’s independence July 10-13, 2014 at the Civic Center Park in Woodhaven.
Join Uncle Sam as he rings in summer’s biggest holiday American style. Bring the whole family down for a weekend full of midway rides, food vendors and live entertainment.
The festival’s popular carnival rides are returning “State Fair Size” and featuring more than 30 rides, including a super cool water slide and thrilling roller coaster. The midway also consists of rides for all ages and any level of excitement.
After the carousel and Ferris wheel, stop by the petting zoo and visit with some of your favorite farm animals. Also, be sure to get a free camel ride and a photo taken of you in action.
And don’t forget about the monkeys! Stick around and catch one of the banana derby shows where monkey jockeys ride on a dog’s back while racing to the finish line. Later, catch a glimpse of the Fearless Flores, another circus act featuring performances on the aerial trapeze and in “motorcycle globe of death.”
You can’t miss the big fireworks display that is sure to light up all of southern Wayne County on Friday night! And don’t worry about finding a great viewing spot, because the fireworks can be seen from anywhere inside the park.
You won’t just get a good show on Friday, but all weekend long you can catch some of metro Detroit’s best musical acts. They include: Shotguns and Violins, Critical Bill, Collective Soul, War Machine, Fifty Amp Fuse, and Creed’s very own lead singer, Scott Stapp!
The four-day event is a guaranteed blast for the whole family and happens at the following times:
- Thursday: 2-11 p.m.
- Friday-Saturday: noon-midnight
- Sunday: noon-11 p.m.
There is no admission charge for the festival. However, there is a $5-$10 parking fee on festival grounds, or parking off-site and riding the shuttle is free. Prices also vary for carnival rides and food vendors.
