There’s nothing better for the whole family than a day enjoying fine art, crafts, food, activities and live entertainment. And that’s exactly what you’ll get when you go to the Wyandotte Street Art Fair in the city’s downtown area, July 9-12, 2014.
As one of the largest art fairs in Michigan, it is also one of the best attended, too. You’ll have the opportunity to look at a variety of artwork ranging in leather, glass, metal, sculpture, painting, photography, wood and mixed media. And for those who like to be more fashionable than practical, there will also be clothing and jewelry on display, as well.
Be sure to come hungry, because after walking around and visiting all the 300-plus art booths, you will certainly have worked up an appetite. And no worries mom and dad – there is plenty more your kids can choose from than the average hot dog, pizza and chips. Try a chicken pita or Italian sausage with some sweet potato fries, pulled pork nachos, mushrooms on a stick and more.
But don’t eat too much – and save room for dancing. There is a whole list of great musicians lined up to perform each day for both kids and adults to enjoy. All the street entertainment will showcase a variety of metro Detroit artists with unusual and eccentric skills. Local talent like American Mars and Mega 80s will take the stage on Wednesday, Andrew Harness and Boogie Dynamite on Thursday, The Old Cats and Captain Ivory on Friday and Brown Mountain Apes and Union Specific on Saturday.
The art fair will be open the 10 a.m.-9 p.m. each day. The entertainment area is open noon-11 p.m. daily.
Admission and parking costs are free for all guests. Be prepared to park far away and take a shuttle to the fairgrounds, because parking spaces will be limited in all available locations.
