If you're looking for a new hobby, or you and your kid are big stamp collectors, head down to the Ann Arbor Stamp Show and Exhibition at Washtenaw Community College, Nov. 3-4, 2012!
The Ann Arbor Stamp Club puts on the Ann Arbor Stamp Show. Also known as AAPEX, it's held annually, and is "one of the best stamp shows in Michigan," according to the group's website.
This year, AAPEX will feature nearly 30 dealers from across the United States and Canada, who will have stamps from the U.S. and foreign countries, as well as historic stamps.
AAPEX 2012 will also have an exhibit of stamps. In previous years, themes included Swiss semi-postals, Egyptian stamps and postal history, and Hawaiian postal stationery, the website notes.
Don't worry! There will be stuff for the little ones, too. Swing by the youth booth, where kids can get free stamps and giveaways. Your young stamp collector can ask questions and start their stamp collection.
The United States Postal Service will be at AAPEX 2012 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, and the United Nations Postal Administration will be there, too. Both will be selling current stamps and stationery.
Families can also visit the cachetmakers' bourse on Saturday to see designers making cachets for envelopes.
Stop by the show, held in the Morris J. Lawrence Building at Washtenaw Community College, at the following times:
- Saturday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
- Sunday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
There will be food and free parking at the event, and admission is free.
