Fun Things to Do with Metro Detroit Kids This Weekend

Looking for some family fun? Check out our list of events and other things to do this weekend.

There are so many great family-friendly events happening in March, including plenty of maple sugaring events and Women’s History Month events. This weekend is also Holi.

Take your kids, grab some tacos at these taco spots near Dearborn and then play at the largest Launch location in Michigan. Then stop into Lush Yummies Pie Co. for a tasty treat.

Check out the many unique shops and events at Canterbury Village and then browse the bookshelves at these independent bookstores.

FREE Friday Night Movies at Paradise Park

March 22, 2024

Join Paradise Park for a free weekly movie. March 22 is Monsters Inc.

Canterbury Eggstravaganza at Canterbury Village

March 23-24, 2024

A helicopter will rain Easter eggs from the sky at this hunt at Canterbury Village. The afternoon will also include lawn games, a petting zoo, bounce houses and photos with the Easter Bunny. Make sure to bring your own basket to collect your eggs. Registration required.

Easter Bunny and Petting Farm Visits at The Village of Rochester Hills

March 23-24, 2024

See the Easter Bunny at The Village of Rochester Hills inside the beautifully decorated Spring themed Gazebo in Festival Park. The petting farm will also be in Festival Park. There will also be a scavenger hunt. All visits are walk-ups and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Bring your own cameras.

Easter Egg Hunt at Duck Lake Pines Park

March 23, 2024

Ages 2-10 can participate in an Easter Egg Hunt at Duck Lake Pines Park. There will also be face painting and a visit with the Easter bunny. The first 500 children will receive a goody bag.

Eclipse STEM Stations at Ypsilanti District Library – Whittaker

March 23, 2024

Come out to Whittaker Branch to hear from representatives from NASA’s eclipse ambassador program as they lead activities to educate about the cosmos, including the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8.

Egg Hunt & Peter Rabbit’s Mom at Jefferson Branch

March 23, 2024

Children can come out to Jefferson Branch to search for plastic eggs and visit with Peter Rabbit’s mother. RSVP required.

Fishville Farms Spring Fling & Easter Craft Show at at Chelsea Fairgrounds

March 23, 2024

Come out to Chelsea Fairgrounds to shop from over 75 handmade crafters and artisans, visit with the Easter bunny, enjoy crafts and more. Food trucks will be available to purchase lunch from.

Kid Flicks from the NYICFF at the 2024 Greater Farmington Film Festival at Farmington Civic Theater

March 23, 2024

Children can enjoy a showing just for them at Farmington Civic Theater. The films are Rachel, The Goose, Swing to the Moon, A Whisper in the Island of the Heart, Luce and the Rock, Papirola and To Be Sisters. 

Making Maple Syrup Tours at Maybury Farm

March 23-24, 2024

The maple tour begins with a wagon ride to the forested area of Maybury Farm. There, you’ll learn the amazing way sugar maple trees produce sap, why sap flows, and how to tap and collect sap from the tree.

Maple Sweetness at Wolcott Mill Metropark, Historic Center

March 23-24, 2024

Families can visit the wood-fired evaporator and discover how to turn sap into syrup. Venture out into the sugarbush on a self-guided nature hike. Registration is not required.

Maple’s Sweet Story at Kensington Metropark

March 23-24, 2024

Take a guided walk out to the sugar bush to learn how to pick the perfect maple tree to tap. Then watch how the trees are tapped and visit the sugar shack to watch the sap get turned into syrup. Real maple sugar products will be available for purchase. Registration is required.

Spring Equinox Witches Market at Boston Tea Room

March 23, 2024

Visit Boston Tea Room and shop from over 15 local artisans, makers and crafters during this fun pop-up vendor event.

Superior Township Parks & Recreation Easter Egg Hunt at Fireman’s Park

March 23, 2024

Children ages 11 and under can come by Fireman’s Park for photos with the Easter Bunny and an Easter egg hunt. Bring your own basket or decorate a bag while you’re there.

The Bunny Trail at Stony Creek Church 

March 23, 2024

Children can participate in an indoor egg hunt where they can collect eggs, candy and goodies from local businesses. Also, meet and take a photo with the Easter Bunny while you enjoy hot cocoa and a donut.

Easter Egg-stravaganza at Blake’s Orchard & Cider Mill

March 24, 2024

Ages 3 and up will enjoy an egg hunt, train rides, pictures with the Easter Bunny, face painting, crafts and a petting zoo. Make sure to bring your own basket and dress for the weather. Registration required.

Easter Jam at Friendship Church

March 24, 2024

Families can join Friendship Church for story telling, games, music, crafts, an Easter egg hunt and photo opportunities with the Easter bunny.

Kid’s Spring Bingo at New Baltimore Trade Center

March 24, 2024

Families can join New Baltimore Trade Center for kid bingo, delicious snacks and fantastic prizes. Game begins at 1:30 p.m.

Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design at The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History

Through March 31, 2024

  • Address: 315 E. Warren Ave., Detroit
  • Cost: $30/adults 18-61, $20/seniors 62-plus, $15/ages 5-17 and military, free/ages 4 and under. Free admission is available on the first weekend of each month.

This exhibit features the Oscar-winning costumes of designer Ruth E. Carter. The exhibition features more than 60 of Carter’s original designs, including costumes from Black Panther, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Malcolm X, Do The Right Thing and more iconic films.
