Whether your family is filled with history lovers or not, this festival is the perfect way for kids to have fun while learning about one of metro Detroit’s most popular cities. Join the community at Rochester Municipal Park on May 24-25, 2014 as the annual Greater Rochester Heritage Days delivers fun activities and events.
Don’t underestimate what the festival has to offer just because it boasts “old fashioned” fun. When’s the last time you got to witness an ax-throwing contest? Or how about chainsaw carving performances? There’s even live logrolling shows, where lumberjacks jog on top (and try not to topple off!) of big logs floating in water. Swing by the Crafts Along the Creek and Rochester Lions Club car shows, too, and see what goodies you’ll find.
Be sure to also visit a live animal petting zoo, camel rides and face painting for the whole family. The ever-popular Pioneer Homestead and Playground with stilts, gourd bowling, a bean-bag toss and more also returns.
Event times are as follows:
- Saturday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
- Sunday: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
All entry costs are free for the whole family. However, donations are appreciated.
