Giant four-wheelers are ready to crash, careen and get some serious air when Monster Jam hits Ford Field in Detroit Saturday, March 1, 2014.

There are loads high-throttle, engine-revving stunts in store as some really big trucks – we're talking 10,000-pound fiberglass giants – take to the arena. These beastly vehicles have appropriately car-crushing names like Grave Digger, Avenger, Wrecking Crew and Team Hot Wheels Firestorm. Some are even doggone anthropomorphic: Watch for the Monster Mutt Dalmatian, a spotted truck with a fang-filled grin, and the Scooby-Doo, complete with "floppy" ears and a friendly lolling "tongue."

These touring monster-truck shows are touted for their mix of "racing, showmanship and the ultimate fan experience." That includes a unique pre-show "Pit Party." Here, kids get big-time access: They step onto the actual racetrack and explore the actual obstacle course that'll soon be smashed to smithereens. They'll also meet the truck "pilots," who deliver loads of autographs, photo ops and smiles.

Make a full day of it for your entire family! The "Pit Party" is 2-5 p.m. and costs $10/ticket or $45/family of four. The actual Monster Jam show starts at 7 p.m., but gates open at 5 p.m. Tickets for that range $20-$55/adults and $10-$55/ages 2-12.
