Lions, tigers and bears, oh my! These animals aren't the only entertainment at the Detroit Zoo this summer. From July 2 until Aug. 27, 2014, these Wild Summer Nights will get everyone's toes tappin' and fingers snappin' when some great local bands perform every Wednesday evening at the Detroit Zoo.
Once a week, you and your family can go wild for the sweet tunes from a wide range of artists. Live music from local bands, including children's, jazz, pop, folk and blues will certainly draw in a crowd of all ages.
Some popular bands like The Sun Messengers, The Candy Band, and Billy Brandt and the Sugaree's are a few choices that will be featured during the event.
Enjoy dinner while you sing along. Pack some juice boxes and sandwiches for the kids, or get some snacks and soft drinks from the zoo concessions where mom and dad can also purchase their own beer and wine.
But make sure you get there early. You'll get a good viewing spot from inside the zoo's Main Picnic Grove. Bring some lawn chairs or a blanket to camp out before the concert begins.
The concert series runs 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday evenings.
All the concerts are free with zoo admission, which is $6 after 6 p.m.
