Looking for an immersive, cheery holiday experience – a bit reminiscent of, say, Disney's "It's a Small World" attraction? Well, the answer is right here in southeast Michigan – at Lincoln Park's annual Winter Fantasyland. Now in its 48th year, this walkthrough favorite, open to explore Nov. 24 until Christmas Eve, pulls you into the holiday spirit full swing, showcasing everything Christmas, from the scents of yummy goodies to the sounds of carols.

Listen to your favorite holiday songs as you stroll this pint-sized town, where you'll encounter a candy house, bakery and chocolate shop. What's that you smell? Ahh, it's the wafting aromas of peppermint and gingerbread.

Curious what the elves have been up to? Just check out the animated scenes that show the little guys hard at work. Some are making toys, others are baking and one group is setting up Santa's sleigh for his big trip later in December.

And, naturally, Christmas wouldn't be complete without a visit with Santa Claus himself. Kids can meet St. Nick and take a photo with him, too. Prices are $3 for one picture and $5 for two.

This holiday scene is open to visitors 4-8 p.m. Monday-Friday and 2-8 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. On Christmas Eve, the hours are 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Admission is only $1 and free for babes-in-arms. Fantasyland is located at the Kennedy Memorial Building band shell. Don't miss this nostalgic trip that's been a holiday tradition for downriver families for decades.
