All weekend, families can find classic festival fun at the midway. But there’s so much more to explore in addition to the rides and games at the midway in downtown New Baltimore. On Wednesday, kids can join in the fun on the pingpong drop in Walter and Mary Burke Park. Starting at 5 p.m., there’s one drop for kids ages 3-6 and another for ages 7-10. Also on Wednesday is the Miss Bay-Rama pageant and the Chicken Chuckin event for all ages 7 and up. Thursday, kids can enjoy many unique events including a bubble gum blowing contest (ages 6-11) and a “wrap your mummy” contest (ages 6-10). Anyone of any age can compete in the Hoola Hoop contest, and anyone ages 5-18 can join the Wii Just Dance Party. A raffle will also be held to win a Wii console and Just Dance games. At dusk, head over to the Walter and Mary Burke Park to watch the Fabulous Fishfly Fireworks. Top Dog Entertainment will be providing music in the park as well. For anyone who is looking for a little competition, come with an empty stomach on Friday! There’s a pie-eating contest, as well as a watermelon-eating contest, for ages 7 and up. At the New Baltimore Civic Club, kids ages 12 and under can go to the Princess and Pirate Pizza Party (additional fee; costumes required). Parents are welcome as well. Kids can meet the Bay-Rama Queen’s court and Captain Jack. Then, Saturday is Kids Day. Kids ages 12 and under can participate in free games and raffles for prizes, including a new bike. There will also be a petting farm. Also on Saturday is a pizza-eating contest for ages 7 and up. Finally, Sunday, the main event is the parade. But first, head to the Queen’s Breakfast at St. John’s Lutheran Church ($7/adults, $5/kids 5-12, free/under 5). The parade starts at 1 p.m. so grab your spot on Green Street! Midway is open this day, too. Admission to the event is free, though there are fees for rides and other activities. Times for the event are as follows: Wednesday: 3-11 p.m. Thursday: noon-12:30 a.m. Friday: 3 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Saturday: 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sunday: 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Ready for some fun?
