Now that’s thinking smart, and it’s exactly what you’ll get at the Civil War Remembrance at Greenfield Village in Dearborn this Memorial Day weekend, May 23-25, 2015. This year marks the 150th anniversary of the turning point of the war and the series of battles that led to Gen. Robert E. Lee’s surrender. Camps, cavalry and period music will pop up all over the village as more than 450 Union and Confederate re-enactors dress in period clothing and act out scenes from the Civil War. Military tactical demonstrations, historian insights, special presentations and hands-on activities, among others, are included in your experience. Catch live musical performances from the Dodworth Saxhorn Band, Camp Chase Fifes and Drums, the North Star Gospel Choir, and more. Greenfield Village is open for this event 9:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday and 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday-Monday. Tickets are available through The Henry Ford’s call center and are $25/adults and $18.75/children 5-12. Parking is $6. Members get free admission and parking.
