Civil-War-Reenactment

It is no longer 2015. Soldiers and civilians in the Civil War era return to tell their stories at the Civil War Reenactment, Oct. 10-11, 2015. The smoke appears and men march in their uniforms with guns and a thirst to fight. This defining time of the nation’s history begins in 1861.

Visit the camps and learn about the military drill. Children can even participate in the drills! Talk to civilians and see how their everyday lives play out in the era. You’ll witness fights between small units of troops while you’re here, too.

Families will definitely want to swing by to meet Thomas Gordon, a collector of Civil War sheet music. View his various collections of original pieces where he presents an original newspaper from April 8, 1865. The date marks a battle that soldiers plan to reenact. See the collections displayed for the very last time.

Join the soldiers for the Candle Light Walk on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. A spirit from the past will be your guide through the site. Note: The event not recommended for children under 6 years old.
Celebrate 150 years since the ending of this central event in America’s history. Admission for the event is $5. Admission for the walk is $5 adults, $3 children ages 6-16. Vehicle entry to the park is $7.

Times are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (Candle Light Walk at 7 p.m. Saturday).
