If you or your children are fans of art, the Royal Oak Clay, Glass and Metal Show might be for you. At this unique art fest, check out over 120 different artists, specializing in metal, glass, clay and jewelry. Head on down to Royal Oak June 11-12, 2016 to experience this award-winning event first hand.
See a wide variety of art in this variety of mediums, ranging from beautiful handmade bowls to necklaces and sculptures. Watch metal being forged, copper being sculpted, glass being turned into pendants and even tiles being pressed and decorated.
Not only can you see them and watch artists create works, you could even make art of your own for a small fee. Kids can enjoy Lonnie Ingram showing them how to make a bunny out of pipe cleaners at booth 205. John Crahen at booth 101 can show you how to make a small version of a stained glass window to take home. Or, if jewelry is more your style, Sandra Hall helps you make origami crane earrings at booth 145. Gabriel Craig will also be taking metal art commissions at booth 230.
Kids will also enjoy helping to add to the community mosaic by creating additional panels to be hung in the children’s section of the public library.
And of course, the awards given to the artists are sure to entertain. Categories range from best in each category as well as Best of Show and the Award of Honor awards.
The show goes from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, June 11 and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, June 12. The booths will be set up on Washington Avenue between Fourth and Lincoln streets.
