Family Events Dexter Daze in Washtenaw County Come out to the 44th annual Dexter Daze fest, taking place in the Monument Park and Mill Creek areas Aug. 12-13, 2016. « Previous Next » Shelby Stewart • August 4, 2016 Add Comment Total: 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 The Dexter Daze festival is back again, and there are plenty of activities for families and kids. The festival runs from Aug. 12-13, 2016 right in downtown Dexter at Mill Creek and Monument Park. Head to the Meijer Gazebo Friday to see musical acts, including School of Rock – Ann Arbor, KayLyn Pace and Minutes to Midnight. Also on Friday at Mill Creek Park, there will be a rock wall and bouncers 11 a.m.-6 p.m. for everyone to enjoy. Catch performers at the park, too, such as Yo-Yo Zeemo, Funny Puppet Guy Ventriloquist, America’s Nature Guy and the Children’s Theatre of Michigan and a Dexter Educational Foundation event – all perfect for kids to see and enjoy. These events run varying times from 11 a.m. till 7:30 p.m. Start off Saturday morning with the Dexter Daze Parade at 10 a.m., complete with the marching band and Colors the Clown. The rock wall and bouncers will be back 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and there will be a train Saturday only. Find more performances in the Meijer Gazebo including Bugs Beddow, RFD Boys and Vinyl Underground. The park will have more performing acts as well. This time, see Colors the Clown, Kevin S. Devine Rollicking Participatory Children’s Music, and Bacchanal Promotions Top Hat Performers. Saturday, don’t miss the LaFontaine Annual Car Show running 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. And at 7 p.m. Saturday, there will be a showing of The Peanuts Movie – a great summer experience for the little ones. Then, at 10 p.m., there will be fireworks at Mill Creek Park North to finish off the festival with a bang. But that’s not all. In addition to these family-centric events, there will be plenty of artists in booths around the fair. And the Chalk the Block contest, where artists create beautiful chalk art on the street. Plus, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, shop the art and business booths – or swing by the social tent 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Admission to the fair is free, and hours are 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
