This event has so much to offer including snowshoeing, ice skating, a zip line, marshmallow roasting and more. The most popular attraction at this event is the Meridian Winter Slide – newly designed for 2017. This icy slide stands at 30-feet high and drops you at 20 mph. There will also be tons of musical entertainment for parents and kids alike on multiple stages, including a DTE Energy Family Stage. Here, kids can see magic shows, science shows, musical acts and more, located inside the Marketing Associates Tent on Woodward Avenue. Also in the same tent will be the Detroit Interactive Sports Zone with interactive exhibits and guest appearances from former Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Pistons players. This event will have loads of food for everyone attending, so if you get hungry throughout the day, you will have lots of dining options. Find food from Beans & Cornbread, Bigalora pizza, Famous Dave’s, Hero or Villain Deli and several other local eateries. If your little ones are looking for something sweet, there will be multiple marshmallow roasting stations at the event as well (must purchase kits). Of course family favorite activities are returning in 2017, including the free ice skating at Campus Martius Park (thanks to St. John Providence). Take a ride on the MetroPCS Zipline Adventure, which has you soaring 34 feet above the ground. Although some activities are free, most activities will have a fee to participate. Admission to get into this family-friendly event is three canned food items or a $3 donation. All admission profits and items will be donated to Matrix Human Services. Organizers suggest parking in one of three areas: 1 Campus Martius Building Parking Garage (1188 Farmer St.), Kennedy Square Parking Deck (719 Griswold St.) or The Z Deck (1234 Library St.). Parking rates at recommended lots will be $10 after 4 p.m. Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday.
