Downtown Detroit is the place to be this weekend as the Meridian Winter Blast returns on Feb. 12-14, 2016. This event has so much to offer including snowshoeing, ice skating, a zip line, marshmallow roasting and more.
The most popular attraction at this event is the Meridian Health Plan snow slide. This icy slide is located on Michigan Avenue – standing at 200-feet. You must be 42-inches tall to slide, and make sure to get to the slide early, because this activity fills up quickly.
This event will have loads of food for everyone attending, so if you get hungry throughout the day, you will have lots of dining options. Many local restaurants will be open and serving up delicious meals to event goers. There will also be numerous vendor tents located all throughout Campus Martius Park. If your little ones are looking for something sweet, there will be multiple marshmallow roasting stations at the event as well.
If you and your children are not big into outdoor, chilly activities, there will be indoor ones offered as well. At this event, there will be a Michigan Science Center area with many activity stations for young kids with a love for learning! There will also be a reading program, where local celebrities read beloved books to children. If you are a music lover, there are musical acts playing at indoor stages during the entire event.
Although some activities are free, most activities will have a fee to participate. Admission to get into this family-friendly event is three canned food items, one children’s book, or a $2 donation. All admission profits and items will be donated to Matrix Human Services.
Plus, a few of Metro Parent’s very own employees will be at the event on Saturday! Stop by our booth to enter our Kids Coloring Contest for a chance to win $100. All kids get a free goody bag! Plus, the first 10 people to visit our booth and say “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” get to pick from our swag bag of free toys, books and more!
Event times are as follows:
