If attending the Auto Show is one of your family’s favorite traditions, it’s time to start making your plans. Organizers are gearing up for the 28th annual North American International Auto Show, which will return to Cobo Center in Detroit from Jan. 16-24, 2016.
One of the most notable auto shows in the country, the event gives visitors the chance to get up close and personal with some of the newest vehicles and technologies in the auto industry. Whether you’re a fan of electric vehicles, muscle cars or big trucks, adults and kids alike will enjoy checking out all that the famous show has to offer.
The event officially kicks off Jan. 9 with the “ultra-luxury automotive event” The Gallery, followed by several preview events leading up to the nine-day public show starting Jan. 16.
Here are some of the highlights to look for during the show:
- Cars on Parade: A parade of cars, local stars and special surprises from the Parade Company will take place at 3:30 and 7 p.m. daily.
- MLive Day: The MLive Glitterbooth is a complimentary photo booth offered for visitors 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 16. Free photos available to each participant; photos taken will appear on the big screens during the show.
- Military Day: On Jan. 19, members of the military and veterans providing ID will receive a ticket discount.
- WXYZ Family Day: Celebrity appearances, music, giveaways and other family-friendly activities will be offered on Jan. 22. You’ll also have a chance to meet your favorite 7 Action News on-air personalities.
Public show hours are 9 a.m.-10 p.m. (no admittance after 9 p.m.) Jan. 16-Jan. 23, and 9 a.m.-7 p.m. (no admittance after 6 p.m.) on Jan. 24. Tickets are priced at $13/adults, $7/seniors 65-plus and kids ages 7-12, and free/children 6 years old and younger. Tickets for children and seniors can be purchased at the door only.
