The two events will run at the same time, so enjoy free crossover admission when you purchase admittance for one. Outdoorama is back for a long weekend of informative seminars, contests and activities for outdoorsmen and women. Take a walk down memory lane with vintage boats and outboard motors, try your hand at the virtual fishing simulator or purchase fishing tackle made in Michigan. The Alaskan Timbermen Team will be battling for first place in the “Olympics of the Forest” event. Two Alaskan lumberjacks will compete in chopping, sawing, axe throwing and more to determine who is the better overall outdoorsman. Stop by the dozens of booths at the event to get more outdoor gear or to learn about clubs like The Detroit Buck Club or Michigan Bow Hunters. If you prefer to enjoy Michigan’s balmy summers from the comfort of your own backyard, stop by the Cottage and Lakefront Living Show to learn about vacation properties. Seminars include “Log or Timberframe Home – Which is Right for You?”, “Let It Pay for Itself: Pros and Cons of Renting Your Vacation Home” and “Smart Gardening for Waterfront Property.” Stop by one of the many booths to pick up products to improve your vacation home or explore Michigan art and food with sellers like Lavender Hill Farm, growers of edible lavender, or His Handiwork Photography, nature and wildlife images photographed in Alaska, Maine and Michigan. Take a load off at the Dock Party on Feb. 24 from 6-9 p.m. with a performance by Sam Corbin, a Ypsilanti-based singer-songwriter. With his Americana style and solid love of the classics, kick back and imagine you’re at a concert at the lake. Tickets are priced at $10/adults, $4/ages 6-14 and free/under 5. The event runs from 1-9 p.m. Feb. 23, 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Feb. 24, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Feb. 25 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Feb. 26.
