Family and friends return to Garden City for the 55th annual parade. The procession features the Garden City High School Air Force JROTC, the Great Lakes Garrison and Great Lakes Base Star Wars costuming clubs and the Motor City K-9s. Listen for the sound of the Garden City, Oak Park and Taylor Kennedy marching bands. University of Michigan star athlete and Garden City High School graduate Kelsey Susalla serves as the grand marshal for this year’s event. At the end of the parade, watch Santa Claus receive the key to the city. If you want to meet him, attend the post-parade event at the farmers market, located northeast of Ford and Middle Belt roads. Don’t forget to show your support for the parade by buying a “Straight Outta Santaland” hoodie. The parade begins at 10 a.m. the Saturday following Thanksgiving. Santaland steps off at Garden City High School and stops at the Garden City Town Center parking lot where the post-parade event begins immediately after.
