Downtown Chelsea Sounds and Sights Festival

The annual summer weekend of fun returns July 28-30, 2016 with live music, art market, kids' activities and more.

The beautiful sights of downtown Chelsea will have even more appeal this month when the Sounds and Sights Festival returns to town for its 12th year.

The weekend event, coming up July 28-30, 2016, draws visitors from all over Michigan, according to Chelsea Area Festivals and Events.

It kicks off Thursday evening with music downtown, a social tent, food court and a movie at dusk, and then continues with an indie art market, KidZone, social tent and more on Friday and Saturday.

Sponsored by Golling Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Chelsea, the annual summer fest has plenty of fun in store for families. You’ll find a classic car show, a martial arts demo and a cornhole tournament on Friday – plus a pet parade, a chalk art contest and a magic show on Saturday.

The KidZone – open 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday and Saturday – has children’s activities including bounce houses, fire truck demos, balloon animals, circus workshops and more. All activities and shows are free except the ceramics painting station, spin art T-shirt craft and glitter tattoos.

If you’re heading out for the live music, consider Country Night on Friday with acts including Kris Hitchcock and Gunnar & The Grizzly Boys – or the Dance Party on Saturday featuring 13th Floor and The Phoenix Theory.

A food court will be available throughout the event. You can find the full festival schedule and more information here.

The festival is free to enter. A $5 fee is required after 6 p.m. for entry to the Social and Entertainment Tent.
