When it comes to family fall activities in Michigan, fall festivals are a must! With the fall season, the 14th annual Trenton Scarecrow Festival returns Oct. 2-4, 2015. The Downtown Event Planners nonprofit runs the festival for families to appreciate in the fall season. Enjoy live music, a comedy show and more.
Make your scarecrow come to life in a contest. Give it a name and show it off for prizes. Categories include children, children’s clubs and organizations, families, adults and businesses. You have the option of donating it to charity.
It’s idol time. Share your voice with an audience in Scarecrow Idol. Kids 7 years and older can audition by sending a video. Let the audience be the judge – literally. Proceeds go to the Downriver Youth Performing Arts Center (DYPAC).
Show off your pooch in a dog costume contest on Sunday. Dress him or her in the best outfit for the pageant. Local judges select first-, second- and third-place winners.
The fun does not stop there. Families enjoy carnival rides starting Friday. Don’t forget to visit the arts and crafts vendors (10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday).
Admission is free. Carnival wristbands are $15 on Friday and Sunday, and $17 on Saturday. The times are as follows:
- Friday: 6 p.m.-10:30 p.m.
- Saturday: 10 a.m.-10:30 p.m.
- Sunday: 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
