Family Events Uncle Sam Jam at Civic Center Park in Woodhaven Music and fireworks keep the patriotic spirit going after Fourth of July at this Wayne County festival, happening July 7-10, 2016. « Previous Next » Shelby Stewart • June 29, 2016 Add Comment Tweet Just because the Fourth of July is over doesn’t mean you can’t keep the party going longer – and the best place to party is the Uncle Same Jam in Woodhaven from July 7 to 10, 2016. Come out for the free-admission festival. There will be a bunch of music acts, including War Machine, Detroit’s own KISS tribute band, and .38 Special. See many more over the course of the festival. The carnival will be in full swing all weekend. Rides include a roller coaster and a water slide, as well as 30 other rides for the whole family to enjoy. Bonus: Thursday is Family Day, so wristbands are half price. Keep the merriment going with a fireworks show at 10 p.m. Friday, July 8. If pyrotechnics and a smoking guitar aren’t your style, there are plenty of other activities that are family friendly and fun. The petting zoo is open every day, so bring the kids to see all of the cool animals. For $5, they can even ride a camel. They can also check out the birds in the bird encounter, or see all of the creatures in the exotic animal exhibit. Or, if your child doesn’t want to ride a camel, maybe they want to ride in a monster truck! You read that right: rides on monster trucks are available every day of this fest. There’s so much more to explore at this can’t-miss event, which has become a tradition for southern Wayne County families. Carnival hours are 2-11 p.m. Thursday, 2 p.m.-midnight Friday, noon-midnight Saturday, noon-11 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free, and there’s a $25 fee for ride wristbands.
