Neighborhood Toy Store Day in Southeast Michigan

Local toy stores have fun and discounts planned for this annual day on Nov. 12, 2016, which introduces families to the joys and benefits of shopping neighborhood businesses.

Many of metro Detroit’s much-loved family and independent toy stores will celebrate Neighborhood Toy Store Day on Saturday, Nov. 12.

Hosted by the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association, this annual day of fun aims to introduce families to the joys – and hometown economic boost – of shopping at local toy stores and supporting local businesses.

Here are some of the participating stores Metro Parent found around town this year that are offering deals or special activities. Be sure to call the stores for full details.


Adventures in Toys

Bavarian Inn Doll & Toy Shop

You’ll find events at this spot from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., including a visit from Anna and Elsa (2-4 p.m.), prizes, games, demos – plus so much more. Spend more than $25 and you’ll be entered into the grand prize drawing.

Brilliant Sky Toys & Books

Plan on having a great time at this shop on Saturday! Enjoy free cookies and punch all day. There’s free crafting for kids from 10 a.m. to noon and a special story time at 12:30 p.m. with Kelsey Fox, Royal Oak mom and author of Just Try It Wyatt. Plus, there will be a coloring contest for free toys and free toy raffles.

Learning Express Toys

Every kid who comes in on Neighborhood Toy Store Day gets a $1 off coupon for any purchase. Swing by 11 a.m.-4 p.m. for a “tremendous” amount of fun activities for kids on this special day. Play games in the store, get hands-on with arts and crafts – even try hair chalk, temporary tattoos and more. Plus, enter to win a $25 gift card.

Special activities for Neighborhood Toy Store Day are running 10 a.m.-3 p.m. here. Come by to play games and make crafts, see toy and game demos – and even win some prizes!
