What’s a hairdo without an accent or two? That seems to be the argument of most little girls – hair always needs an accessory that matches the day’s outfit. C’mon, mom, you remember. Personally, I had dozens of bows and hairclips, which offered the perfect flair for each outfit.

Stripes, polka dots, birds, owls, flowers and hearts – those are just some of the Lilla hairclip designs in store for your little lady. Lilla, the Swedish word for "little," was founded by Lisa Applequist and Krista Palmquist in 2009. And these petite hair accessories connect fashion with the women’s passion to give back.
How? For every Lilla hairclip sold, some of the money is donated to littlethings – a non-profit organization, helping girls gain an education in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Littlethings was launched by Sarah Thontwa, a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in 2007 – and according to the Littlethings website, it was "founded on the notion that every person has a little thing to give, and that if we each do our part, we can make positive change in the world."
So many Congolese girls grow up without a formal education, and, Littlethings says, it only takes $20 per month for them to attain it.
What things do you do with your extra $20? Maybe grab dinner, buy the newest lipstick color from MAC or catch the latest flick. That extra cash we so often throw away on "wants" instead of "needs" could help educate a less fortunate young woman.
