Royal Oak Rib Fest

Live music, monster truck rides, pig races and tons of barbecue ribs will have you thinking you died and went to hog heaven!

Taking over Fourth of July weekend, the Royal Oak Rib Festival sets the mood for summer. The festival begins Friday, July 3 and ends on Sunday, July 5, 2015. Admission and parking are free all weekend.

Stop by the Kids Zone with your little ones, work up an appetite and venture through the barbecue area where you’ll find 12 different vendors with specialty ribs from vendors like Chicken Shack, Big Moe’s BBQ, Detroit BBQ and more. Take your nose over to the barbecue cook off or take a monster truck ride for $8.

Kids will also have a blast watching a magic show, jumping around a bounce house, drawing with chalk and singing karaoke.

This first-time fest takes place at the Royal Oak Farmers Market. Times are as follows:

  • Friday: 4-11 p.m.
  • Saturday: noon-midnight
  • Sunday: noon-8 p.m.

Charities involved with the Royal Oak Rib Festival are Handy Hearts, a charity dedicated to funding therapy for cancer patience and Healthy Detroit, an organization devoted to bringing culture and active life to the city of Detroit.
