But now that you’re mom and dad, there’s still tons of fun to be had for families – including the Detroit St. Patrick’s Day Parade, live performances, dances and more in Macomb, Oakland, Wayne and Washtenaw counties. Several days in March 2015 are packed with family-friendly St. Paddy’s Day events. So, dust off your green stockings, turn on your Irish pride and head out to one of these fantastic events right in your own backyard.

Get a jumpstart on working off the winter calories with this annual race, which features a 10K, 5K and one-mile run. There’s also a costume contest for the best dressed runner, so be sure to wear as much green as possible. All participants will receive a L. Jordan brand “tech shirt.”

There will be a live DJ, dancing and refreshments for ages 13-plus. A guardian must be present if an individual needs help using the restroom, is known to elope or needs one on one attention. Space is limited so be sure to register early.

A 5K Lucky Dash kicks off this year’s fun at 10 a.m. followed by the annual parade hosted by the Norman O’Brien Division of the Ancient Order of Hiberians at 11:30 a.m. The parade steps off from Royal Oak Middle school and heads south on Washington to Seventh Street. See floats put together by local Irish clans, step dancers and bagpipers, as they show off what it means to be Irish. Get there early to get a good spot.

This 57-year tradition brings Irish pride to the streets of Corktown.
