Do you snap a first-day/last-day-of-school photo of your children? Take the chalkboard trend up a notch by creating a school photo display board! Tape the first photo up top and leave the bottom empty for the last-day photo next year. The chalkboard paint allows you to write your child's name on the frame or funny messages in the last-day spot during the school year.
- 10-by-10-inch wooden canvas
- Black chalkboard paint
- 2 screw eye hooks
- 1 yard craft cording
- Super glue
- 6-inch decorative ruler
- Number stickers
- Sanding block (optional)
1. Prep your wooden canvas, to start. If you need to, lightly sand the top and sides of the canvas.
2. Next, paint the top and sides of the canvas and let dry. Follow the drying and curing times described by your chalkboard paint's manufacturer. Apply a second coat of paint after the first has dried completely.
3. Now it's time to add your number stickers. Place "2013" in the top left corner and "2014" in the bottom right corner.
4. Stand the canvas up. On the top side, measure in 3 inches on either end and screw the screw eye hooks into place. With your decorative ruler, apply a line of super glue to the back and position in the center of the canvas. (Make sure the ruler is securely attached to the front of the canvas before hanging.)
5. Feed your cording through each of the eye hooks and tie with a knot and then a bow.
