Hopefully by now you’ve checked out our project to create a love robot Valentine’s Day mailbox! If your child likes the idea of a Valentine robot (and who wouldn’t?), we’ve got one more heart-themed project to share before Feb. 14. It’s another one of the awesome and fun crafts to do for kids! Turn a plain wooden heart into a mini love robot. Show it off as a magnet, like we did, or turn them into a pin , attach to an oversized paper clip to use as a bookmark or simply glue to the front of a plain card for an instant Valentine greeting.
- Small wooden heart shapes
- Red craft paint
- Mod Podge
- Red glitter
- Googly eyes
- Silver pipe cleaner
- Paint brush
- Hot glue and glue gun
- Backing of your choice: magnet, pin, paper clip, etc.
Start out by painting the plain heart red. Paint the front first, then let dry. After that, paint the sides and then the back. Add an additional coat of paint if you’d like.
Next, add a thick coating of Mod Podge to the front of the heart. Apply glitter to the Mod Podge. Shake off any excess and then let the piece dry.
Using the glue gun, add the googly eyes to the glitter side of the heart.
Using craft scissors, cut a 2-inch piece of silver pipe cleaner and bend in half to create a V. Glue on the back of the heart with the glue gun.
