Looking for a unique way to ring in the holidays? Enjoy all the educational and outdoor offerings of Detroit’s urban island – along with a little holiday cheer – at the Belle Isle Holiday Stroll, which happens on Friday, Dec. 13, 2019.
This annual event kicks off at 5 p.m. with a slew of holiday activities and performances at the isle’s many institutions, including the Belle Isle Nature Center, the Conservancy and Casino, which are open late for this event.
Families can start out by taking a stroll through the Belle Isle Holiday Stroll Winter Marketplace. This experience, which is new in 2019, offers dozens of local vendors selling crafts and gifts that are sure to please even the pickiest folks on your holiday shopping list.
After, take a walk around the isle to see a variety of performing groups. Among them are the WellSpring Chorale, young “Urban Violinist” Kym Brady and many others.
Don’t forget to swing by Santa’s workshop too. Here, you’ll find a chance to snap a photo with Santa, make a holiday-themed craft and try some delicious eats from local food trucks set up at the event.
This year’s Belle Isle Holiday Stroll runs from 5-8 p.m. on Belle Isle in Detroit. It is free and open to the public.
