Calling all families: Uncle Sam wants you to come to the Clawson Fourth of July celebration June 25-July 4, 2014, for a grand ol' time at Clawson City Park.
Get Yankee Doodle dandy, because you can celebrate America's Independence for five whole days. With "Clawson" as this year's theme, families can take part in this Oakland County city's festivities, including the big fireworks display.
Join all the hoopla the first two days by attending the ice cream social on Wednesday, then enjoy a kiddy parade and fun kids photo ops on Saturday. Stop by for amusement rides and food concessions Thursday night. Also, bring your tennis shoes and come back Sunday to participate in the Free Fun Run and the 5K Freedom Run.
But if you catch one day, make it Friday – officially Independence Day – for a bunch of fun, including a 9 a.m. city parade, baseball and softball to watch, old-time games to join in, a water battle (fire departments from Clawson and Troy face off) to cheer on and more, all topped off by the fireworks display.
The festivities are select dates June 25-July 4, featuring activities during the following times:
- Wednesday, June 25: 7-8:30 p.m.
- Saturday, June 28: 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
- Sunday June 29: 7 p.m.
- Thursday, July 3: 3-9 p.m.
- Friday, July 4: 7 a.m.-10:30 p.m. (fireworks begin at dusk)
There is a $2 admission fee both Thursday and Friday. However, other fees may vary depending on activity.
