Dreamtigers at PuppetART Detroit Puppet Theater

Isabel, a little girl from Mexico, loves everything about nature and science. One night, though, she has a scary dream full of terrifying wild tigers – and vows to never sleep again. Find out what happens to Isabel and her family in Dreamtigers, a fantastical performance at the Detroit Puppet Theater, playing Saturdays March 3-31, 2012.

Performed in an intimate 70-person theater, the show – PuppetART's second premiere for 2012 (they also just debuted Snow Queen) – combines physical theater and dance with intricate puppets crafted by The Hinterlands ensemble.

PuppetART is known for its cultural performances based on stories from areas of Russia, Japan and West Africa. In Dreamtigers, the troupe brings Latin American folklore to life in a thrilling mix of dreams and reality.

Dreamtigers is recommended for kids ages 7 and up. Children and adults are encouraged to attend an optional puppet-making workshop after the show for an $8 materials fee.

Shows are at 2 p.m. Saturdays, with an additional 10 a.m. performance on Thursday, March 15. Admission is $5 for kids and $10 for adults. You can call in advance for reservations.
