Nothing says autumn has arrived quite like the harvest moon – and the best way to celebrate the season just might be with a party under its illuminating glow.
This year, families can squeeze in one last September festival before the fall equinox and the impending winter weather at the annual Harvest Moon Celebration at Riley Park in Farmington. The event runs Sept. 20-22, 2018, with some family fun happening on the final day.
This fest kicks off on Thursday from 6 to 11 p.m. with a celebration for ages 21-plus. Taste a variety craft beer and wine from around the world and pair it with local food trucks and live music by Northville Folk.
That same adult fun rolls into Friday at the Harvest Moon Dance. This 14th annual tradition brings hundreds of locals to the downtown area for a night of live tunes by the bugs Beddow & the Good STuFF – plus craft beer, wine and food from local eateries including The Cheese Lady, Basement Burger Bar, Dagwood’s Deli & Catering and many others.
Last but not least, Saturday is Harvest Day – which features all the fun for families. Head down bright and early for a pancake breakfast with the Farmington Area Jaycees. Tickets are just $5 for adults. Kids eat free.
After you have your fill, take a walk through the Harvest Market. It’s open from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. and is filled with goodies crafted by local artisans and some locally grown produce, too.
