Is your child interested in Japanese culture? It’s no surprise. The island nation has brought an array of beautiful and unique music and artwork, delicious seafood and much more to the world beyond the Pacific – and you can experience it all at the Novi Japan Festival on Oct. 7, 2018.
This annual October festival, which is co-hosted by the Japan Business Society of Detroit and the JSD Women’s Club, runs 1-4 p.m. at Novi High School.
Start your day off with one of the cultural workshops offered. At these sessions, families can try their hand at Japanese calligraphy or flower arranging and even sit in on a Japanese tea ceremony.
To add another level to your experience, don’t forget to check out the traditional dance, taiko drumming and kendo (martial arts) presentations hosted here. You’ll learn a little bit about each activity and what each one means to the people of Japan.
In addition, there will be plenty of delicious Japanese eats and seafood fare, like sushi and tempura, for sale. Plus you’ll find traditional kids games and other attractions for youth, making this the perfect cultural excursion for the entire family.
Best of all, the event is free to attend and open to all.
