Downtown Detroit is the place to be during the Quicken Loans Winter Blast Weekends, which runs four weekends from Jan. 19-Feb. 17, 2019.
This event, which was formerly known at the Meridian Winter Blast, has so much to offer including snowboarding, ice skating, a zip line, marshmallow roasting and more.
The most popular attraction at this event is the Winter Slide, which stands at 30-feet high and drops you at 20 mph at a 40-degree angle.
There will also be tons of musical entertainment for parents and kids that vary from weekend to weekend. Throughout the event, families can catch live performances by some local talents including Paddlebots, Dragon Wagon, Keynote Sisters, Alise King and many others.
This event will have loads of food for everyone attending in the form of a food truck rally, so if you get hungry during your visit, you will have lots of dining options.
Trucks vary by weekend, but hungry festival goers can expect dining options like Beans & Cornbread, Hero or Villian, The Nosh Pit, Imperial Ferndale and several other local eateries. There will be multiple marshmallow roasting stations at the event as well (must purchase kits).
Of course family favorite activities are returning in 2019, including free ice skating at Campus Martius Park and the Zipline Adventure, which has you soaring 34 feet above the ground the last weekend of the event.
In addition, families will find crafts and an ice sculpture garden. Plus a polar plunge (Feb. 8-10) to support the Special Olympics.
Admission to the this event is free but some fees may apply for some activities.
